Landscape, Bridge, Huntingdon Valley — Hand-Cut Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle
Bold color, expressive brushwork, and an extraordinary hand-cut pattern come together in this one-of-a-kind wooden jigsaw puzzle featuring H. Lyman Saÿen’s Landscape, Bridge, Huntingdon Valley.
Created around 1915–1916, Saÿen’s vibrant landscape is filled with twisting trees, sweeping paths, brilliant autumn colors, and unexpected shapes. The almost abstract quality of the painting makes it especially well suited to a challenging jigsaw puzzle.
But the artwork is only half the experience.
Each of the 192 pieces is individually hand cut, creating an organic pattern of curves, branches, hooks, narrow passages, and unusual interlocking shapes. There is no traditional grid and very little repetition from piece to piece. Turn the puzzle over and the intricate cut pattern becomes artwork in its own right.
The surface of the puzzle also features a subtle raised relief texture. Rather than a completely flat printed surface, the image has a lightly dimensional, tactile finish that can be both seen and felt as you handle the pieces. It gives the finished puzzle a distinctive texture reminiscent of the physical surface of a painted canvas.
At just 9 × 7.5 inches, don't let its relatively small size fool you. With 192 unusually shaped pieces, complex cuts, and Saÿen's shifting areas of color, this puzzle offers considerably more challenge than its dimensions might suggest.

Because my puzzles are cut individually by hand, this is not a mass-produced puzzle with a picture simply applied to a standard cutting pattern. The cut is part of the design.
